Music of the River Raisin Ragtime Revue, a nonprofit professional ragtime orchestra that educates and entertains audiences of all ages through performance and preservation of Americas original. He collaborates frequently with chamber ensembles and with his wife Carole as a flute-piano duo.ĭoug is also very active in the arts and the community. His original score for the Grosse Ile Boars Head Festival has played to capacity audiences for 30 years. He is currently the organist at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church. He performs with several symphony orchestras, Hubbell Street Jazz, and his own jazz ensembles. He received the Bachelor of Music degree with highest honors from Michigan State University in 1978 where his principal teacher was Ralph Votapek.ĭoug tours in the US and abroad with the Hollywood Festival Orchestra and appears locally with the River Raisin Ragtime Review. He began playing piano at age 8 and received his first professional appointment as a church organist at the age of 12. Cole on his KOD tour.Īn alum of Columbia College Chicago, Kelsee spent 4 years under the instruction of Jill Kaeding and had the opportunity to perform with many artists including Grammy award winning artist Paula Cole, Todd Rundgren, smooth jazz artist Brian Culbertson, gypsy jazz guitarist Samuel Strouk, Charlie Sexton, record with singer/ songwriter Yoshi Breen, guitarist Kevin Eubanks and Darmon Meader. Kelsee spent part of 2018 performing with J. She can also be seen performing with groups such as the River Raisin Ragtime Revue, ecletic band Glad Rags, and on episodes of the FOX show Empire. Most recently, Kelsee was awarded the Harmony Fellowship with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra starting in their 125th season (2018). She was a awarded a fellowship for her 2 years, having the opportunity to train with world-renown faculty and artists such as the Calidore and Takács string quartet. Kelsee received a dual Master’s of Music Degree in Cello Performance and Chamber Music at the University of Michigan in 2018, studying with Anthony Elliott. A versatile musician, she can be seen doing everything from recording sessions to orchestral performances. Kelsee Vandervall is a Chicago based cellist, teacher and arranger.
